NYSCIO Overview

NYSCIO 2013
The Lodge at Welch Allyn
Skaneateles Falls, New York
July 10th - 12th, 2013

Registration is open for the 12th annual NYSCIO Conference. This year's theme is:

Aligning IT with the Academic Mission: Shared Resources as Catalyst

With the increasing commoditization and outsourcing of central IT functions like email, calendaring, and VOIP, and the emergence of MOOCs and cloud-based computing resources, strategic guidance from campus IT leaders is critical for making wise decisions about the use of these and other shared IT resources and facilities. IT leaders must identify and prioritize investments that rebalance IT resources away from utilities and toward academic and programmatic activities that advance their institution's overarching mission.

Please join us at July 10-12 for a series of thought-provoking presentations selected to help IT leaders make this transition, and meet other senior IT leaders to exchange ideas, challenges, best practices and opportunities for collaboration. We know you will find this year's conference informative and engaging.

This summer we depart from our long-standing tradition of hosting NYSCIO on a member campus. This year's event is being held at The Lodge at Welch Allyn. Located in Skaneateles Falls, New York, a few short miles from the charming village of Skaneateles and beautiful Skaneateles Lake, the Lodge is a 25,000-square-foot conference facility on the pristine wooded campus of Welch Allyn's corporate headquarters.

Our opening reception and most of the conference program will take place at the Lodge, but we have a special treat for those attending our Thursday evening dinner. Skaneateles' famed Rosalie's Cucina is catering our event at Anyela's Vineyard, a family-owned vineyard and winery four miles south of Skaneateles.

Consistent with past years' events, free transportation will be available between all conference venues and many nearby hotels. And, NYSERNet has reserved room blocks at hotels in Skaneateles and nearby Auburn. We encourage you to make your hotel reservations early. Skaneateles is a popular tourist destination and the supply of rooms is limited. All room reservation blocks expire May 15.
